MUMBAI: Vegetable vendor Pushpa Ghone (65) can't stop thanking her stars that her son, Santosh, survived the building collapse. The two sell vegetables retailers and had gone to make purchases with wholesalers on Y Tawde Road on Saturday, as is their daily routine.
"My mother had stepped aside for a few minutes when the building came crumbling. She was fortunate to escape unhurt but I was trapped neck-deep in rubble for 90 minutes," said Santosh.

People were running helter-skelter and I could witness the melee but had difficulty breathing. My mother kept screaming for help till someone finally came to my rescue. I was pulled out of the debris lateran hour-and-half after the collapse," he said. Santosh is experiencing 's face is swollen and he has severe pain in his limbs and his face is swollen.tnn He believes that his mother is the sole reason he is alive.
"I can't bear to see him in so much pain," Pushpa said, sitting by her son's bedside at the hospital. "But after learning of some of the others who lost their lives, I'm thankful my son is with me," adds the sexagenarian. The Ghones reside at Kajupada in Borivali East.
