MUMBAI: Several city-based organisations have condemned Thursday''s bomb blast in a local train at Mulund. While sparing no words to express their outrage at the bombing, they also appealed to Mumbaikars to maintain peace.
Among those that came out against the blast was the Mumbai Regional Muslim League. "We are with the families in the time of their grief," the League said in a press release.
League members urged the state government to unearth the conspiracy behind the blasts, which they said were "crimes against humanity".
The Raza Academy wrote to chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde condemning the blast and demanded compensation of Rs 2 lakhs for each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The All-India Khilafat Committee also condemned the bomb blast.
Arshad Siddiqui, president of Maharashtra Voters'' Council, said in a press release that the government should offer medical and financial aid to the victims and their kin. The anti-social elements who were behind the act should be arrested and punished, he said.
Activists Javed Anand and Teesta Setalvad, along with others, called the bombing a "dastardly act".
