CID includes K’taka FIR in Ajit Pawar’s death probe

Pune: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday said the FIR registered by the Karnataka police in his uncle Ajit Pawar's death in a plane crash had been transferred to the Maharashtra CID but it still did not act on it, while the CID officers told TOI that it had been made a part of the ongoing probe of the accidental death report."We have received the FIR that was registered with the Bengaluru police from the Maharashtra govt. We have included it in our ongoing probe of the accidental death report (ADR) under Section 180 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The FIR will be treated as a statement and investigated in details," said additional director-general of police (CID) Sunil Ramanand.Section 180 of BNSS empowers police officers to orally examine any person familiar with the facts of a case during the investigation. "Further probe of the ADR is going on, and more details from the central agencies are awaited," Ramanand said.Rohit had earlier approached the Karnataka govt claiming that the Maharashtra police were not ready to register an FIR of criminal conspiracy in the Jan 28 plane crash in Baramati in which Ajit Pawar died with four others. With its help, the zero FIR was registered with the Bengaluru police last month.Rohit told reporters in Baramati on Saturday that the Karnataka police had transferred the FIR to their Maharashtra counterparts for further investigation but the latter were still not taking action on it. "I met the dIrector-general of police (DGP) regarding the FIR. He admitted that the Karnataka police had transferred the FIR to the state. Now the police are playing with words.
