MUMBAI: A woman who had accused a 64-year-old businessman of trying to sexually assault her at a five star hotel in the city and claimed she had been injured while resisting his advances had 'applied bloodstains of chicken on her hands and told the police that she got hurt while he was trying to sexually assault her'. This is stated in the chargesheet filed by the police.

The woman, Monica Bhagwan alias Dev Choudhary, allegedly laid the honey trap to frame the businessman and had extorted Rs 3 crore from him along with her three colleagues, the police said.

The unit 10 of the crime branch city police last week filed the chargesheet against Monica Choudhary and her three accomplices - Anil Choudhary alias Akash, Lubna Wazir alias Sapna a fashion designer, and jeweller Manish Sodi.

In November 2021, the businessman from Kolhapur had lodged a police complaint alleging that a gang of four had laid a honey trap at a city hotel and extorted Rs 3.25 crore. The accused continued to threaten him with a video and demanded another Rs 2 crore, it was alleged.

While her aides were arrested in the case, Monica's arrest took place in June 2022.

The story of the blackmail goes right from 2017 when Anil Choudhary and Sapna befriended the businessman and did a study of his assets and hatched a plan to trap him, the police said. In 2019, when he was in Mumbai and stayed at a five star hotel, Monica had alleged that he tried to sexually assault her and her accomplice, Sapna, had shot a video of a tiff with the man, accusing him of assault.
