MUMBAI: The Charkop police arrested three men—two of them siblings—for stealing autorickshaws, then forging documents and giving them out on hire. They have been identified as Sachin Shinde (24), Kiran Shinde (25) and Mohammad Hussain Khan (40).
“The men would steal autorickshaws and change their number plates. They would take a photocopy of the original documents.

After making a change in the registration number in the photocopy, they would again make a copy of it. The vehicle was then given out on hire. As the registration number was changed by the gang, it was difficult to make out that the vehicle was stolen,” said investigating officer Ram Bandekar.
Seven stolen autorickshaws have been recovered. The men operated in Malwani, Malad and Kandivli areas.
