sangli: the union ministry for non-conventional energy resources has given its approval to the latest ‘ready-made’ reinforced cement-concrete (rcc) biogas plant developed by the sangli-based shivsadan co-operative society. the ministry’s approval will now enable farmers in the state to obtain government grant to get the new model installed at their farms, said v.r.
joglekar, executive director of shivsadan. he said the new biogas plant model would bring about basic changes in the lifestyle of farmers. “the use of rcc has extended the lifespan of the model by more than 25 years, and there is absolutely no possibility that the plant will develop any leaks or cracks,� joglekar said. he said the ready-made rcc biogas plant could be installed within a couple of days and was easy to shift, if need be. a survey conducted by the union ministry for non-conventional energy resources has revealed that the country has a potential to construct over 12 million biogas plants, joglekar said, adding that the central government was willing to offer grants to farmers, public institutions and others to have their own private plants. popularisation of biogas plants is the country would help in a great way to solve the energy crisis it faces. biogas plants would serve as the centres for decentralising the power generation process, he said.
