Daily Covid cases fall, Mumbai breaks 3-day no-death run

Daily Covid cases and fatalities in the state dropped to 2,068 and 15 (from 40 on Thursday), respectively, on Friday. The daily tally in the city plunged by around 20% to 202, however Mumbai broke its three-day streak of zero fatalities and recorded the death of a senior citizen on Friday.

MUMBAI: Daily Covid cases and fatalities in the state dropped to 2,068 and 15 (from 40 on Thursday), respectively, on Friday. The daily tally in the city plunged by around 20% to 202, however Mumbai broke its three-day streak of zero fatalities and recorded the death of a senior citizen on Friday.
In a clear indication that the city is well past the third wave peak, wards such as G North (Dadar) and B saw no cases on Friday.

Ward B (Dongri) has been recording zero cases for the past three days now. G North ward, which includes Dharavi, was without a single new case in a day for the first time in the third wave on Friday.
Ward B medical officer Dr Sandeep Gaikwad said: “Testing is being carried out to ensure there is no new spread by an asymptomatic carrier.” He added that the ward had zero cases for four days between February 7 and 10.
