Cars crawl at 10 kmph on crater-filled WEH

(WEH), especially during peak hours, has been reduced to the

speed

of a bicycle, thanks to the potholes that dot the corridor due to rains. The average speed of vehicles on WEH, especially the 20km stretch between Andheri and Dahisar, has come down to 10kmph from the usual 17kmph during rush hours.


Traffic police and transport officials say besides rains and craters on WEH and the roads connecting it, work on the Metro 7 (Andheri (E)-Dahisar (E) route was also contributing to the dip in vehicle speed. Transport experts say over 15,000 people travel in about 7,000 vehicles, including private

cars

, bikes, taxis, autos, buses and heavy vehicles, during peak hours on WEH.
