Cardinal: Vote for ideals of Constitution

Mumbai: Issuing a statement on the forthcoming state Assembly election on Nov 20, the archbishop of Bombay, Oswald Cardinal Gracias, has urged every citizen to "vote according to his/her conscience, guided by values that uplift and honour our democratic traditions".
He said "the Catholic Church neither endorses nor supports any political party". Cardinal Gracias recalled the ideals of our Constitution: Equality, Liberty and Fraternity. He urged every Catholic, every Christian, to make sure to cast their ballot. The Cardinal said, "Voting is the sacred duty of every citizen. We vote for peace, progress, harmony, unity and care for the needy." tnn
