MUMBAI: Two labourers were killed and a third was injured after a
speeding Chevrolet
rammed into them and fell down 20 feet from a bridge on the
Western Express Highway
at Bandra on Thursday. The victims were working on a hoarding and were standing on a mini-tempo when the accident occurred around 2.30pm. The Chevrolet was occupied by a couple who suffered minor injuries. They got off the vehicle and hailed an autorickshaw to go to a private nursing home.
The accident occurred on the north-bound stretch of the bridge when the Chevrolet was moving between the sealink and Kherwadi. After the car hit them, two workers fell off the bridge. Sandeep Gaud died on the spot and his body was mangled. The other victim, Lala Bansi, died in the hospital. Gaud is a resident of Mahim. A third labourer, Mohammad Shakil, was standing below the bridge when the car fell. He has suffered fractures.
A case of negligence as been registered by the Bandra police against the man who was at the wheel of the Chevrolet.
