Boy with cerebral palsy gets 77.6%, wants to be engineer

Kenneth Gandhi, a student with

cerebral palsy

, scored 77.6% in his SSC. He appeared for his exam as a private candidate from St Mary’s High School at Charkop.

“We decided to enlist Kenneth as a private candidate because we had to pay attention to his physical therapy alongside school,” said Dinesh, his father. “It was mostly his mother, Madhvi, who supported him and managed his schedule. That apart, the school helped us out to great extent.” Kenneth has been undergoing therapy for 18 years.

He would visit the hospital after waking every morning and return home by 10:30am. Thereafter, he would study for his tuitions from 12pm to 4pm. He would then take a break for his exercise and resume studying till 8:30pm.

Apart from maths, he was excited about learning Geography. His father, who works with a logistics firm, said, “The only thing we had to do was to see that Kenneth followed his schedule.” Passionate about studies, he aspires to be an engineer. “I wish to become a computer engineer since I’m interested in computers,” he said.
