The new Judges are Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar and Milind Manohar Sathaye, both advocates.

They are appointed as Additional Judges in that order of seniority, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge.

The new appointment takes the HC judge's strength to 66, still 28 short of its sanctioned strength.

Their names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by ex-Chief Justice of India U U Lalit. Union law minister Kiren Rijiju posted on his social media handle his "best wishes to them".

The Collegium had recommended 12 names as HC Judges, these are the first two among them to be appointed.
