Body on beach: Woman may have killed self

MUMBAI: The woman found dead on the beach at Santacruz was identified as Jaya Lalwani (53), a homemaker from

Shivaji Park

, on Wednesday. She was reportedly depressed and was on medication. Police said she may have committed

suicide

as there were no injuries on her body.


Lalwani lived with her husband, Naresh, and two children. Around 9.30am on Tuesday she left home. Her body was found at 11am. The post-mortem report said she had drowned.

Her family filed a missing complaint at Shivaji Park police station when she did not return by evening. Police identified the body from the woman’s description in the complaint.
