BMC’s twin technology for potholes

Mumbai: BMC will use rapid hardening concrete (M60) and rapid asphalt technology to fill potholes and repair roads prior to the monsoon. BMC faced flak in the past for the use of cold mix technology to fill potholes. In July last year, the civic body had tested four methods to fill potholes and one of them was the rapid hardening concrete. A special method will be used to fill potholes, which will involve cutting pits to a specific shape and filling them with material. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring there are no potholes on roads for a three-year period, the defect liability period. Two suppliers have responded for the use of reactive asphalt technology and three for rapid hardening concrete. tnn
