The revenue generated, estimated at ₹350 crore, will help improve services and infrastructure for slum dwellers.

Transportation and Commercial Hub Proposed in BMC Budget

The proposed Transportation and Commercial Hub at Dahisar Check Naka, located on the Western Express Highway, aims to provide lodging facilities for passengers arriving in Mumbai from other states. The project also includes plans for commercial offices, passenger vehicle parking, and other related amenities. A star-category hotel with 456 bus parking spaces, 1,424 motor vehicle parking spaces, and 131 rooms is also proposed, according to the budget.

Since the project is connected to the Western Express Highway and metro stations, it will help facilitate the onward journey of frequent passengers and alleviate traffic congestion in Mumbai. The capital investment for the project, as well as the funds for its maintenance, will be sourced from the project itself. As a result, the BMC will not face any additional financial burden, and the project will create a new source of income, the budget report states.
