MUMBAI: BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra announced on Wednesday that premium buses will be launched from Gundavali Metro station on Western Express Highway to Bandra-Kurla complex, and another service from Thane to Andheri by next week.
This will cater to hundreds of daily office-goers to BKC and Andheri. The ridership of premium buses from airport to SoBo, Navi Mumbai and Thane has collectively gone up to over 3,000 passengers daily, he said.
The fares are less than any other AC public transport. For example, the fare from the airport to Cadbury junction in Thane is Rs 200 and to Cuffe Parade is Rs 250. BEST official said that since the response has been good, there are plans to start more routes connecting the airport to the suburbs and other areas. "We plan to start an airport to western suburbs bus from next month," he said.
