'Bandra to shine bright with Bollywood': Metro Line 2B Set to Host Cinema Theme Park
MUMBAI: Get ready for a touch of Bollywood magic in Mumbai's Bandra suburb! A new project to showcase the rich history of Indian cinema will come up beneath Metro line 2B viaduct, between ESIC Nagar and Bandra.
This stretch comprises of 7 stations and 355 pillars. This special space will feature sculptures and designs inspired by famous Bollywood movies and stars, all illuminated with colorful LED lights and digital effects.
With Bandra already being a hotspot for tourists, this Bollywood theme park will add even more charm. It's expected to become a must-visit spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a fun way to learn about Mumbai's movie-making history.
Bandra is home for several Bollywood personalities including actors, artists, writers, singers and filmmakers that attracts several tourists to Bandra’s Pali Hill and Carter Road areas.
The project, costing around Rs 250 crore, will be divided into two parts: the early years of Bollywood from 1913 to 1939 and the Golden Age from 1952 to 2023.
MLA Ashish Shellar who spearheaded this move said, “ This unique concept will not only enhance the beauty of this area, thus reaffirming Bandra as the Queen of Mumbai suburbs, but it will also become a tourist attraction.”
MMRDA has appointed a team of experts and the best consultants who are aware about the rich history and has asked them to come up with a comprehensive master plan.
Shelar expressed confidence that this will also be a landmark icon and pride for Mumbai and Mumbaikars.
The work on some bays of this project will commence from the second week of March and the rest of the work will continue simultaneously with the Metro infrastructure.
There are also plans to closed off part of the road for vehicular traffic on Sunday mornings for a 'Happy Street' event, where you can enjoy Bollywood-themed activities and soak up the lively atmosphere.
