Bandra garden named after santoor legend

Mumbai: Flute legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, lyricist-poet Javed Akhtar, local MLA Ashish Shelar, senior Santoor player Rahul Sharma and others joined hands to name a garden near Palimala Road in Bandra West after santoor legend Pandit Shivkumar Sharma on Saturday. It was the santoor maestro’s 86th birth anniversary.“There could not have been a better way to remember Pandit Shivkumar Sharma ji than dedicating this garden to his memories,” said Shelar. Akhtar said legends like Sharmaji and Chaurasiaji helped create writers. They thanked the BMC for naming the garden after Sharma. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma's son and disciple Rahul Sharma who was accompanied by family members, including mother Manorama Sharma, thanked Shelar and BMC for honouring the music legend by dedicating a garden to his memory. tnn
