Full opening Of Gokhale Bridge

Andheri’s Gokhale Bridge was fully opened to the public on May 11, marking the completion of both construction phases after over a year of partial access and long traffic disruptions.

Inauguration ceremony held

The inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday evening and was led by key political leaders from the city, formally allowing motorists to use the bridge in its entirety from the same evening.

First phase opened in February

The first phase of the Gokhale Bridge had already opened to traffic on February 26, 2024, providing limited relief to commuters until the full structure was ready.

Major east-west connector

​The bridge is a crucial east-west link in suburban Mumbai, connecting Andheri East to West, and its full opening is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the area.

Key leaders present

The bridge was inaugurated by MP Ravindra Waikar, Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar, Andheri East MLA Murji Patel, and Andheri West MLA Ameet Satam, highlighting the project’s importance.

Built after old bridge demolition

The new Gokhale Bridge was constructed after the old structure was demolished due to safety concerns, with the redevelopment aimed at ensuring long-term structural safety and better flow.

With the full bridge now operational, traffic flow across Andheri is expected to improve substantially, offering smoother and faster connectivity for daily commuters and local residents.
