MUMBAI: Three days after former Maharashtra chief minister
Vilasrao Deshmukh appeared before the commission probing the Adarsh society scam, his successor and political bete-noir
Ashok Chavan will present himself before the two-member panel probing the scam on Saturday.
Chavan's deposition comes after Deshmukh laid the responsibility on him for allotting land to Adarsh and how it included civilians in the housing society meant exclusively for military officers.
Chavan headed the crucial revenue department when Deshmukh was CM.
Deshmukh had told the commission that the revenue department had not brought to his notice at the time of issuing a letter of intent that there was no survey number given to the land in question and that no property card in respect of the same had been issued.
Chavan had earlier sought exemption from deposition, as he had "no personal knowledge" of issues like reduction of road width and sale of BEST floor space index, being probed by the panel.
