MUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recorded the statement of a property owner who claimed that arrested state minister Nawab Malik had grabbed his land by using his clout in Kurla. This land is different from the Goawala Building compound that Malik allegedly purchased illegally with the help of Haseena Parkar, sister of terrorist-gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
The ED has collected the land-related documents for examination. Sources said the property is close to the Goawala Building compound and after Malik’s arrest, the landowner gained the courage to report to the ED about it.
The land owner had approached the ED just after Malik’s arrest, saying he had avoided filing the land grabbing complaint earlier due to fear. The ED had asked him to submit the land deal document on Monday after which they had recorded his statement in the case on Tuesday.
The ED had arrested Malik last week for grabbing the Goawala Building compound with the help of Haseena Parkar. The Goawala Building compound owner Munira Plumber told the ED officials that she was not aware of the deal and didn’t receive any payment. She alleged that Malik had usurped her property with the help of Haseena and her associate Salim Patel.
The Malik-Haseena deal on the Goawala Building compound allegedly took place between 1999 and 2003.
Earlier, the ED had recorded the statement of Ahmedullah Ansari who, along with Malik’s brother Aslam and Malik’s son Faraz, had visited south Mumbai to meet Haseena. During their meeting, Faraz paid over Rs 50 lakh in cash and Rs 5 lakh in cheque to Haseena in the presence of her associate Salim Patel. Malik allegedly grabbed the Goawala Building compound through his company Solidus Investments Pvt Ltd, in which Faraz is one of the directors.
