Ankolekar gets maiden Mumbai Ranji call-up

Mumbai: Left-arm spinning allrounder Atharva Ankolekar received his maiden Mumbai Ranji call-up as the selectors on Sunday named a 15-man squad for the opening match, from January 5 against Bihar at Patna.
The 23-year-old, who played for India in the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa in January 2020 (he took four wickets and scored 61 runs), has played eight List A (8 wickets@31.50, 31 runs@10.33) and 12 T20 matches@35.83). Ankolekar was picked for the Ranji Trophy after he scored 74 and took five for 40 for the Victory Cricket Club against New Hind Sporting Club in the Police Shield final on Sunday.

New Hind clinch title
Meanwhile, New Hind Sporting Club ended the year triumphantly with a one-run win against Victory Cricket Club in the final of the UPL-76th Police Shield at Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground. In a tense three-day affair, New Hind held their nerve to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Brief scores: New Hind Sporting Club: 1st innings: 180 all out in 58.1 overs & 2nd innings: 339 for 9, 40 overs (Sangram Bhalekar 92, Harshal Jadhav 61, Sisshant Aadhatrao 53; Shashank Attarde 7/96) Victory Cricket Club - 1st Innings: 333 all out, 89.4 overs & 2nd innings: 185 all out, 36.3 overs (Hardik Tamore 46; Parikshit Valsangkar 4/81). Result: New Hind Sporting Club won by one run.
