Amravati airport gets state nod

The state cabinet on Wednesday cleared a proposal to upgrade the air strip at Amravati into a proper airport with basic facilities.

MUMBAI: The state cabinet on Wednesday cleared a proposal to upgrade the air strip at Amravati into a proper airport with basic facilities. The project is estimated to cost Rs 279 crore.
Amravati is the hometown of the President. CM Ashok Chavan said Amravati despite being a divisional headquarters only had an airstrip to boast of. Chavan said the state would contribute Rs 64 crore for the airport.
