Ajit group files pleas for disqualification of rival camp MLAs
IPL 2025 mega auction
The 10 assembly members named in the plea are state NCP (Sharad Pawar group) president Jayant Patil, Jeetendra Awhad, Rohit Pawar, Suman Patil, Anil Deshmukh, Rajesh Tope, Balasaheb Patil, Prajakt Tanpure, Sunil Bhusara and Sandeep Kshirsagar. Those from the council named in the other plea are Shashikant Shinde, Arun Kaka Lad and Eknath Khadse.
The decision of the Ajit Pawar group to launch disqualification proceedings assumes importance as the Sharad Pawar faction has already launched such proceedings not only against Ajit but against all those party leaders who joined Ajit’s camp.
The Ajit group has already moved the Election Commission of India, saying it should be declared as the real NCP and the party symbol (watch) should be allotted to it. The Sharad Pawar faction too has knocked at ECI’s doors, arguing the Ajit faction’s application be rejected as there is no split in the party. ECI will hear contentions of both factions on October 6. But ECI has observed that there is a split in the NCP.
Maha BJP prez in damage control mode over MLCs remarks against Ajit Pawar
State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has apologized to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar's remark calling him a wolf. Bawankule made it clear that his party does not support Padalkar's views and stated that his statement is not in line with the culture of the BJP. Padalkar, who has been critical of the Pawar family, had contested against Ajit Pawar in the 2019 elections. The remark has caused discomfort in the ruling alliance, and senior BJP leaders are in damage control mode.
Maharashtra: Contracts to fill up govt posts temporary step, says deputy CM Ajit Pawar

He stated that the government's decision to fill some positions on a contract basis is temporary and that the government plans to recruit 1.5 lakh candidates for different departments. Pawar accused the opposition of double standards, claiming that the previous government made the decision to fill positions on a contract basis. He emphasized that once candidates are recruited, these contracts will be withdrawn.
Pawar camp threatens stir over GR
The Sharad Pawar camp of NCP in Pune has threatened a statewide agitation if the government resolution (GR) to fill up some posts on a contract basis is not withdrawn within two weeks. NCP workers, along with MPSC aspirants, observed a token hunger strike in protest. They claim that the candidates hired on contract will receive poor salaries, with most of it going to the contractors. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar defended the decision, stating that it is temporary and that the government is in the process of recruiting 150,000 candidates for different departments.
