MUMBAI: Saamna on Tuesday slammed Air India (AI) for ignoring stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma’s unruly behaviour aboard a flight recently.
Accusing AI of singling out Shiv Sena MP
Ravindra Gaikwad for “punishment” in the wake of his assault on a senior AI official, Saamna said a similar incident had occurred at Vijaywada airport two months ago when a Telugu Desam Party MP allegedly assaulted an airlines official.
In a scathing editorial, Saamna alleged that AI had come down heavily on Gaikwad, while going soft on Sharma and the TDP MP. The Sena mouthpiece also recalled how Trinamool MP Dola Sena delayed a New Delhi-Kolkata AI flight last Friday by her unruly behaviour.
While admitting that elected representatives should adhere to rules and norms of decency, Saamna called for a thorough inquiry into the Gaikwad incident.
“We believe in discipline. The one who used his sandal (to hit the airlines official) is certainly guilty. But, the official who got beaten up is neither a saint...let there be a proper inquiry. The entire social media is being pressed into service to project Gaikwad as villain,” said Saamna.
