Actor arrested over alleged rape, abuse in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Police on Monday arrested Bollywood actor Vishal Thakkar for the alleged sexual assault of a television actress over a period of time on the pretext of marrying her. The matter took an ugly turn when the actress approached the Charkop police on Saturday and lodged a case. After carrying out a probe, police arrested Thakkar. The 26 year-old television actress’s FIR mentions Thakkar raping her in his house and then beating her badly over a petty issue.
Thakkar has been booked under the IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape), 420 (cheating dishonestly), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). tnn
