MUMBAI: The Borivli police produced 21-year-old Pratik Shetty, who was driving the car that mowed down a call center employee on Friday, before a holiday magistrate court on Saturday, where he was released on bail.
The police said that they had received Shetty's medical examination report, which said that he was not drunk at the time of the incident.

The police said Shetty was driving the Toyota Corolla many times over the speed limit when he lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the deceased and his friend at the roadside.
The car belonged to Shetty's friend, Shivani Rane, who was sitting beside him at the time of accident, the police said. Shetty, a third-year science student at a suburban college, had fled from the spot after abandoning the car without informing the police. The police came to know about he accident when the deceased Anoop Makhariya (24) and his injured colleague, Milind Salvi (33), were taken to the hospital.
Police officials said that after recording the statement of the injured, they came to the conclusion that Shetty was driving the car. There were reports that two more youths were in the car at the time of the accident, but the police denied this.
They said there were no eye-witnesses at the spot, which made it difficult for them to draw a conclusion. A police officer said that they are concern only with Shetty who was on the driving seat at the time of the accident and other else in the car is not relevant to the case.
Makhariya and Salvi were employed with J P Morgan at Mindspace in Malad-were returning home after work. Both resided in Borivli, and Salvi would often hitch a ride with Makhariya on his bike. On early Friday, Makhariya had parked his bike at the corner of Link Road at Chikoowadi were Salvi stays. They were standing next to the bike, when they were mowed down by the Corolla.
