MUMBAI: Eight men have been arrested for duping Americans of huge amounts of money by posing as staffers of a call centre for a pharmaceutical firm that sold
sex stimulators
. The police on Thursday raided Speed Technology, the call centre, at Sara Business Centre in
Kurla
.

said the gang also had a US national on board with them. The accused convinced the victims to pay through a gateway operated by the US national.
The key accused, who used to train recruits on how to speak with an American accent, is absconding. The police said they are still to verify how the accused person got data on the US nationals and how many of them have been duped.
The gang, which was busted by the crime branch of the police, used a laptop, 11 hard disks containing US citizens' data, 12 cellphones, a Wi-Fi router and other electronic devices to make voice over internet protocol (VOIP) calls.
The arrested accused have been identified as Iqrama Mukadam, Arbaz Shaikh, Shahrukh Ansari, Junaid Shaikh, Kadir Sayyed, Atif Shaikh, Azad Khan and Salman Mogani. tnn
