MUMBAI: Two kids, Riya Khankoriya and Kalia Sanjay Ughreja, both aged five, who went missing from their home in Wadala on Thursday evening, were traced by the police within 90 minutes.

The grandparents of the children had filed a complaint at Wadala police station soon after the children were found missing. The two cousins were playing at home with the grandparents.

Senior police inspector Milind Jadhav formed four teams to look for the missing children. The police said one group was given the job to examine CCTV footage in the area, the second team looked for the children in and around Sangamnagar in Wadala while another team was told to scan the stretch from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT) to Valmiki Chowk in Wadala. A fourth group was making and collecting details of children from the locality.

Missing children’s photos and information were extensively shared through local WhatsApp groups and people were told to help with information about the kids. Personnel from the nearby Wadala TT police station were also informed and their help was sought.

The police learnt that children were last seen in Sangamnagar vegetable market. Announcements about the missing children were made on loudspeakers by the police around Sangamnagar temple and masjid.

The search party learnt about the children’s presence in the local area and rushed there and found the children who were reunited with their families.
