MUMBAI: The state government on Monday transferred 41 IPS officers, including
Satyapal Singh, Rajvardhan Sinha, Amitabh Gupta, Vishwas Nangre-Patil, S P Gupta and Prashant Burde.
Additional DG (establishment) Satyapal Singh is in charge of the state law and order. Recently, on the directives of the Gujarat high court, Singh was appointed as the chairperson of the special investigation team probing into the alleged fake encounter of Ishrat Jahan.
Prabhat Kumar, who was the additional police commissioner (south region Pune), takes charge as the city`s railway police commissioner . Tukaram Chavan has been shifted to Kolhapur as special IG.
Rajvardhan is the new additional police commissioner (economic offences wing) in Mumbai, which is a crucial assignment, in view of increasing cases of white-collar crime, said Mantralaya officials. Rajvardhan will replace Sanjay Saxena, who has been promoted as joint police commissioner (Nagpur).
Thane SP Vishwas Nangre-Patil has been brought to Mumbai and promoted as additional commissioner of police (western region) in the place of Amitabh Gupta.
Gupta has been shifted to the post of special IG (training and special force). Deputy police commissioner (ports) Quaiser Khalid has been promoted as the city`s additional police commissioner (eastern region).
The other transfers include, special IG, S P Gupta who will now hold the charge of additional DG (special action plan). Ashok Dongre will be the new additional police commissioner for Navi Mumbai. SP (

R R Patil said, "I wanted to complete the transfer formalities much earlier. The idea to transfer officials in May was to ensure that they get enough time for securing admissions for their children. The transfer of the DCPs will be announced soon."
