MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Monday granted CBI four weeks to submit its final stand on closure of its investigation into the 2013 killing of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar.

Justices Ajay Gadkari and Prakash Naik were told by CBI's advocate Sandesh Patil that the agency was awaiting nod from CBI headquarters. He urged more time for a clear picture on it.To the judges' query on how much time was needed, Patil sought four weeks.

The Dabholkar case had reached a dead end. On a plea by Dabholkar's family, HC began monitoring the probe. On January 30, the judges were told CBI had completed the probe and a decision would be made by the authority.
