MUMBAI: A sessions court has acquitted three persons charged with the kidnapping of a bargirl in 2007. Dolly Thakur, who worked at a Vile Parle bar, was kidnapped at gunpoint on February 7, 2007, and the accused had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore, the police said.
The FIR said that Dolly was travelling in a car with her close friend, Aman Siddiqui, when she was waylaid and kidnapped along with Siddiqui.
A day before Dolly returned home, the police arrested Siddiqui on charges of kidnapping her. Along with Siddiqui, his father, Sajid Siddiqui, and a friend, Khalid Khan, were also named as accused.
After examining the evidence, the sessions court found it insufficient to convict the accused and acquitted them.
