20% water cut in city for 8 days

The BMC will impose a 20%

water cut

for eight days between August 22 and September 1 as it plans to commission the first phase of the

tunnel

between Gundavali in Thane and Bhandup Water Complex. Raw water is brought to Bhandup Complex treatment plant through a network of water mains like Vaitarna, Upper Vaitarna and Tansa. As the pipelines, some of which are over 100 years old, are corroded, the BMC is undertaking works to replace them with tunnels.
