2 police officers transferred after juniors’ arrest

City top cop Rakesh Maria has transferred two senior officers—senior inspector Babaji Avhad of Sahu Nagar in Dharavi and acting senior inspector Popat Yelle of Mahim—to the local arms division after their subordinates were caught in bribery cases.

MUMBAI: City top cop Rakesh Maria has transferred two senior officers—senior inspector Babaji Avhad of Sahu Nagar in Dharavi and acting senior inspector Popat Yelle of Mahim—to the local arms division after their subordinates were caught in bribery cases.
The two inspectors are among four such officers shunted out since Maria took over as commissioner in February last year.

DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni said, “Officers have been shunted out to side branches over their failure to supervise their police stations.”
