NAVI MUMBAI: Two persons were killed and five others were severely injured after a private

bus

, with at least 35 on board, rammed into the road divider near Khopoli on Mumbai-Pune

The police said the bus was speeding and the driver lost control at a slope. The bus veered off the highway and crashed into the road median. It crashed into the side before grinding to a halt.

Head constable Ajinkya Gosavi said that two passengers — Jeetu Chavhan (30), and Mohan Rathod (26) — were flung out. They died on the spot. Another passenger is in a critical condition while four others, including a woman, sustained severe injuries

Driver Jagannath Dharmu Jadhav (30) has been hurt.
