NEW DELHI: Two men, both 21, were killed after a speeding car rammed into their scooter on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai's Bandra East in the early hours of Friday, an official said.
The incident took place at Kherwadi, he said.
Siddhesh Belkar was driving with three companions from Andheri to Bandra for a meal following their night out. The Kherwadi police have taken him into custody.
Two delivery personnel, Manav Vinod Patel and Harsh Ashish Makwana, were riding an Activa when they sustained grave injuries.
They succumbed to their injuries before reaching the nearest hospital, according to the official.
According to Belkar's statement to the police, he lost vehicle control, which veered and struck the divider before colliding with the scooter.
The official confirmed that medical examinations showed he was not intoxicated whilst driving.
The official further stated that authorities have filed charges against Belkar under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act, with arrest proceedings in progress.
