NEW DELHI: Two people were killed and six others injured after an SUV overturned and was hit by another vehicle on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway on Saturday morning, police said.
The SUV carrying devotees from Yavatmal to Shirdi met with an accident at approximately 9 am, according to an official from Sindkhed Raja police station.
The vehicle overturned after experiencing a tyre burst and was subsequently struck by another car from behind.
The two casualties were identified as Vidya Sable and Motiram Borkar, the official confirmed.
Six people sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility, with three of them being in a critical state.
Emergency responders and traffic police arrived at the scene promptly, and the expressway experienced temporary traffic disruption, the official stated.
