16-year-old assaulted with stone by live-in partner, hospitalised; Mumbai police file FIR
Mumbai: Amboli police have registered a case of kidnapping and grievous assault against a man for allegedly attacking a 16-year-old girl with a stone.
The girl, who has been living with the accused since last year, has been hospitalised with severe injuries to her face and jaw due to which she isn’t able to speak properly, besides other injuries.
Police said the girl used to live with her aunt, uncle and cousins in Jogeshwari after losing her parents at a young age. She told her aunt and uncle that she was in a relationship with Vijay.
In Nov 2025, Vijay allegedly took the minor to Surat. Two days later, she called up her aunt and informed her about her whereabouts. She also told her aunt that she had borrowed a pair of earrings and would return them once she was back in Mumbai, police said.
In April, the girl visited her aunt and told her that Vijay had brought her back to Mumbai and they were living together, but as his family had not accepted their match, they had no fixed place of residence. The girl also told her aunt that Vijay would harass her and assault her as he doubted her fidelity, said police.
On June 10, her aunt received a call from police informing her that the victim had been admitted to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. Due to her jaw injuries, the teenager was unable to speak clearly, but reportedly told her aunt that Vijay had assaulted her with a stone.
Based on the aunt’s complaint, police registered an FIR against Vijay.
