MUMBAI: Seventeen engineers from the public works department (PWD) have been suspended, including 13 from Mumbai for their alleged role in the missing files pertaining to the Maharashtra Sadan scam, said sources. The files were recently found by the ACB at the PWD’s Bandra guest house.
The other four engineers who have been suspended are from the Nashik division.
Sources said CM Devendra Fadnavis had approved all 17 suspensions.
The 13 suspended city engineers are S W Chavan, V G Deshpande, D A Patil, G M Gaokar, V H Ahire, S B Sonanis, J P Dhombale, R B Pardeshi, R H Jagdale, A E Panad, V P Patil, M B Gharat and A M Jadhav.
PWD minister Chandrakant Patil said the suspension of the Nashik engineers—deputy division engineer (Trimbakeshwar) D T Bhadane, department engineer (Trimbakeshwar) Gadakh, assistant engineer (Chandwad) Rahul Patil and department engineer (Chandwad) M U More—had been approved. On January 31, the four had allegedly attended a farewell party for P Y Deshmukh, who had been holding the additional charge of chief engineer, on the lawns of the Ozhar airport.
