BIJNOR: A 28-year-old woman from Bijnor’s Jalalpur Hasna village was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly hacking her four-year-old son and burning him in a chulha.
A case has been registered against the accused, Adesh Devi, under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) based on a complaint by her husband.
The boy’s father, Kapil Kumar, had gone to the fields for work when the incident took place at their home. “I was shocked when I saw my wife burning our child. She first hacked my son’s neck with a spade and later tried to burn him in a chulha. My son, Kallu, was breathing when I reached there and my wife was sitting beside him. I took him to a local clinic where doctors declared him dead,” Kumar said. Meanwhile, Adesh Devi’s brother claimed his sister has “learning difficulties” and is undergoing treatment. Bijnor superintendent of police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said the woman has been sent to judicial custody.
“Body of the deceased boy has been sent to the district hospital for autopsy,” the SP further added.
