MEERUT: An unidentified body of a woman in her early 30s was recovered from inside a suitcase found lying near the NH-9 Highway in Hapur on Saturday morning.
Local pedestrians noticed the red-coloured suitcase lying abandoned and informed the police. The area is very close to ATMS College under Hapur Kotwali police station.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vineet Bhatnagar confirmed the discovery of the remains.
"The body was stuffed inside the suitcase along with some clothes and had some injury marks on the head and face. She wore a T-shirt and a lower. Except for the toe anklets, there was nothing with the help of which we could identify the body. A forensic team has been deployed for the investigation."
Although the nearby police stations and districts have been informed, police suspect the crime could have taken place anywhere in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, etc., as the highway is a fast-moving one.
