Man kills wife for ‘staring at him’, surrenders to police in UP

MEERUT: A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife following a heated argument in Jahangirabad area on Monday. According to police, Sachin Valmiki allegedly killed his wife Manju Devi after coming home from work. Both are sanitation workers on contract with the municipal corporation. He surrendered to police who said he was triggered after he saw his wife "staring at him for no reason".

"The accused told police he always doubted his wife was having an extramarital relationship since he saw her talking on the phone several times," DSP Anoop Singh, circle officer Anupshahar told TOI. Their five-year-old daughter was an eyewitness to the murder. Their two other daughters had gone to school.

Singh said an FIR under Section 103 BNS was registered against Sachin. He added, "He was arrested and sent to jail. We are checking his medical reports to see if he was inebriated at the time of incident. Body was handed over to family after autopsy. A probe is on."
