Bijnor: Young couples visiting a restaurant in Bijnor were secretly recorded inside a "private cabin" by an employee for months, police said, adding the matter came to light after around 200 private videos of different couples were found on his phone.
Following the disturbing discovery, the restaurant was sealed, and police teams on Monday raided several places in search of the main accused, Satendra Kumar.
Bijnor circle officer Sangram Singh, said, Satendra used to make objectionable videos of young couples, mainly students, without consent and circulate them online. The cops also seized CCTV DVRs.
According to a police officer privy to the case, the restaurant charged extra money to provide couples with the "private space". The cabin was situated near a staircase inside the restaurant and was furnished with a sofa and curtains. Taking advantage of the cabin's secluded location, the employee, Satendra, had made a tiny hole into the small room and indulged in voyeurism.
On Feb 4, a couple inside the cabin became suspicious of Satendra's behaviour, and called an acquaintance to check his phone. To their shock, they found more than 200 private videos on the device.
An FIR was subsequently registered against Satendra under BNS section 77 (voyeurism) on Feb 6 based on the complaint filed by a sub-inspector.
No action has been taken against the restaurant owner and other employees, locals said, adding that the accused, who is absconding, used to shoot the videos clandestinely to also blackmail the youngsters.
