MUZAFFARNAGAR:

Police

teams from UP’s Shamli district on Wednesday conducted raids in parts of Delhi in search of

Kairana MLA

Nahid Hasan, who according to police is evading arrest in connection with a case filed against him for driving a vehicle without valid documents and misbehaving with SDM when asked for the papers.

However, after the policemen failed to nab the MLA, they said that they will approach court to initiate attachment proceeding of MLA's properties.

On September 9, Hasan and Kairana’s sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Amit Pal Sharma had a public spat when the officer stopped the SUV in which the MLA was traveling and asked for its documents. Later, during a probe, it turned out that the vehicle was not registered at all. Hasan was then booked for allegedly misbehaving with the government servant and driving an SUV without valid papers.

Now, district administration and police in Shamli, under which

Kairana

town falls, have decided to dust off 11 old cases filed against the MLA and expedite probe in all of them. According to sources, Hasan had applied for anticipatory bails in three cases which were turned down by the local court in Kairana.

Shamli’s superintendent of police (SP) Ajay Kumar said, “We are continuously conducting raids to find MLA Nahid Hasan. On Wednesday morning, several police teams went to Delhi after getting some information about his presence. It will be better if he appears before the police and cooperate in the investigation.”
