BIJNOR: Rishikesh police on Wednesday conducted raids in Dhampur, Bijnor to gather inputs on a Bangladeshi man arrested from Tehri Garwal, who lived in a Dhampur ashram for four years.
The man, identified as Dharmdas alias Devasheesh Chaudhary of Madaripur district of Bangladesh was arrested in Tehri Garwal district on July 20 and police sources revealed that he had lived in an ashram here for four years.
A police team led by sub inspector Ashok Kashyap of Muni Ki Reti police station (Uttrakhand), reached Dhampur and conducted a raid in an a on Wednesday.
Kashyap said, “The man was living in the ashram without a passport and has been sent to police custody. An identity card of Dhampur was found in his possession.”
Kashyap added that Dharmdas had told the police that he used to live in an ashram in Dhampur for four years. “To verify this we had to raid the ashram.”
