Two-year-old girl raped by 17-year-old neighbour in Aligarh

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A two-year-old girl, who was playing outside her home, was lured with chocolates and allegedly raped by her 17-year-old neighbour at his house in Aligarh district on Saturday, police said.

The accused was booked under IPC section 376 (rape) and provisions of the Pocso Act following a complaint by the child's family, and he will be soon produced before the juvenile magistrate, officials said on Sunday.

Atrauli station house officer (SHO) Ranveer Singh said, "The accused was initially on the run. Police raided multiple locations and managed to arrest him within hours of the incident. Evidence and statements of witnesses are being collected as part of investigation into the case."

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Akmal Khan said, "The accused has been arrested and is being questioned. Further investigation is on and action will be taken accordingly."

Locals said that they reached the accused boy's house after they heard the child crying for help. Seeing the crowd, the boy fled from the spot and the girl was sent to the district hospital for medical tests, the officials said.
