The incident took place in the afternoon on Meerapur road, an accident-prone stretch, when the car’s driver lost control over the steering, ramming into a bike and then hitting a tree. A passer-by dialed 100 and a police team from Khatauli area, along with an ambulance, rushed to the spot. All the victims were shifted to a hospital, where Yogesh and Rajender were declared brought dead.
According to station house officer (SHO) of Khatauli police station Har Sharan Sharma, “The bodies have been sent for autopsy, while the injured have been referred to a higher center in Meerut. An investigation is underway.”
It should be noted that Khatuli has the reputation of being an accident-prone area.
In May, three people died and two others were injured after a UP roadways bus rammed into a car in Muzaffarnagar’s Khatauli area.
In March, a major accident claimed several lives in Khatauli. While five people had died, three were injured after an SUV rammed into a dumper truck, which had been wrongly parked on the roadside.
