MUZAFFARNAGAR

: A teenager died and seven people, including three women and two children, were injured after a Dehradun-bound UP roadways bus coming from Delhi rammed their car on National Highway 58 in Muzaffarnagar’s Khatauli area.


According to sources, eight members of a family from Ambala were en route to Shri Niangli Sahib in Uttar Pradesh when a speeding roadways bus, belonging to Noida bus depot, rammed their car on National Highway 58 in the accident-prone area of Khatauli.

After being informed, Khatauli police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Begraj Medical College, where 16-year-old Dhruv lost his life while undergoing treatment.

A family member, Manoj Kumar, told TOI, “The bus driver tried overtake our car and rammed into it. My nephew died while others sustained injuries.”

After the accident, the driver abandoned the bus on the spot and fled. Police have seized the bus and registered a case in the matter, said sources.

According to Har Sharn Sharma, station house officer of Khatauli police station, “We have sent the body for post-mortem after registering a case against the bus driver for rough driving.”
