BIJNOR: Three policemen in Amroha, including a sub-inspector (SI), were suspended on Monday for allegedly keeping the 25-year-old son of an absconding accused in a fraud case in illegal custody for nearly 30 hours to put pressure the family.
Acting on an internal probe report revealing serious procedural violations which found them guilty of “gross negligence and indiscipline”, Amroha SP Lakhan Singh Yadav ordered the suspension of Gud Chowki sub-inspector Sanjeev Kumar, head constable Sandeep Kumar and constable Momin Ali.
“Based on preliminary findings, the three accused personnel have been suspended and a formal departmental inquiry has been initiated in the matter,” the SP said, adding that action will be taken against them if the allegations are proven true during the investigation.
The incident took place Friday when the accused policemen allegedly brought the youth to the police outpost and misbehaved with him. The man was allegedly kept at the chowki without proper authorisation and senior officers were not informed about the detention.
