DM Nidhi Gupta Vats has ordered recovery of the excess amount and departmental action against those found responsible.
According to the inquiry conducted by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), each pond was sanctioned Rs 2 lakh, taking the total approved cost to Rs 8 lakh. However, Rs 13,88,117 was spent, exceeding the sanctioned amount by Rs 5,88,117.
The probe found that Rs 3,87,490 was spent on a pond in Galsua village, Rs 3,65,553 on another site, Rs 2,61,648 on a third, and Rs 3,73,426 in Dhakka village. Recovery orders include Rs 4,14,691 from officials linked to Galsua and Rs 1,73,426 from those in Dhakka.
The investigation also pointed to flaws in an earlier inquiry, including altered affidavits and attempts to mislead the administration.
The district magistrate reiterated a zero-tolerance stance on corruption in welfare schemes and said strict action would be taken.
